How to get out of jury duty:
Just last week I was scheduled to go to jury duty. I didn't have the time to devote to being on a jury trial and this is what I have learned about being released.
The case before me was one of drinking and driving (specifically it was going to be a blood alcohol level case). I have known people who have been killed from drinking and driving, as well as people who have been ticketed for drinking and driving. I realize that there have been many tragic events that have come from drinking and driving under the influence of alcohol.
A judge and lawyer needs to be certain that you will be able to listen to the facts of the case and make a decision based upon the facts of the case.
So...if you want to be excused from a jury selection you must say to the judge and/or attorneys that you are: Not sure you can make a decision based solely upon the facts of the case...Say that you are a very intuitive person and can just "sense" what is the truth-what is the right thing to do. You can say that you are very good at "reading between the lines" And, almost always make great decisions based upon your feelings.
The judge/lawyers need to know that you can be logical and rational about the case...Not "emotional" about the facts. Thus, you are now an unknown entity to the case before you and should be released.
Try this and let me know how this worked for you?
